Gravel ‘N Grit, Inc. is a family owned business located in Ramona, CA. Our story began in 1985 with Mike Jansen purchasing a transfer dump truck and his son, Brad Jansen, driving a water truck. Mike had worked in sand, rock and gravel yards all his life and decided to open his own business selling aggregate materials, specializing in plaster sand.
For 28 years Mike and Brad grew the business continuing to purchase and operate beautiful dump trucks until the unavailability of quality sand in San Diego and the recession said it was time to stop selling materials and explore another direction in business.
Gravel ‘N Grit has transformed into performing strictly heavy cargo transporting. Three generations of our family make up the team: Mike and Janean Jansen, son Brad Jansen, his wife Lisa and sons Dallas and Colton.

MIKE + JANEAN JANSEN
Mike and Janean Jansen started Gravel ‘N Grit in 1985 when they purchased a transfer dump truck. Mike later began selling his own plaster sand and opened a materials sales yard.
BRAD JANSEN
Brad worked closely with his dad since 1985 and now runs the heavy transport division with his son, Dallas Jansen. He dispatches and quotes prices for all the loads he delivers.
DALLAS JANSEN
Dallas has worked in Gravel ‘N Grit since 2015. He drives whichever truck is needed and performs much of the equipment maintenance.
Colton Jansen
Colton assists in maintaining, washing and polishing all of the equipment.
